Overview

The Newbury Town Library Children’s Room offers a number of youth programs throughout the year including:

  • Storytimes (for Babies, Toddlers, Preschoolers and Big Kids)
  • Do Drops Playgroup
  • Lunch Bunch
  • Book Clubs
  • Minecraft Club
  • Movie Showings
  • Summer Reading programs
  • and so much more!!!

The Children’s Room offers a collection of picture books, board books, easy readers, early chapter books, fiction books, non-fiction books, audio books in CD and Playaway formats, magazines, and DVDs. The Children’s Room also provides three public computers with Internet access and word processing software.


Youth Policies and General Information

Unattended Children’s Policy

Children under the age of eight must be accompanied and directly supervised at all times by a parent/guardian/caregiver. Accompanied is defined as “within sight”.

Library Cards

Any child over the age of 5 who is a Newbury/Byfield resident may get a library card. A brief form must be filled out and a parent/guardian signature is required. If you have a library card from another certified Massachusetts library you may use it in the Newbury Town Library.

Museum Passes

The Newbury Town Library offers passes to the following museums: DCR MassParks Pass, Boston Harbor Islands Ferry Pass, Museum of Science, Boston Children’s Museum, Museum of Fine Arts, Peabody Essex Museum, Boston Museum of Science and USS Constitution Museum. To reserve or cancel a musuem pass, please visit the circulation desk or call the library at 978-465-0539.
